Pictou County Glass is a family owned and operated business that was established in 1982, we're proud to be entering our 39th year serving our clients! Owner Wade Salter is a third generation Glazier in his family that started out working for his father in this very shop. His dedication to the operation can be seen in every aspect of the business. Wade believes the client comes first and to this day hand writes every invoice and quote.
 
We have a fast paced business with a large and loyal cliental that relies on our speed of service to get what they need done in a safe, prompt and courteous manner. Our many areas of operation include commercial and residential windows and doors which includes Overhead doors as well. Automotive replacement and repair of glass and Locksmithing is also another department that includes not only all aspects of mechanical and electrical locking mechanisms but Access control as well.
 
We have a staff of eleven but that is simply not enough!! We offer completive wages compared to other parts of Canada and wage is based on experience. Health and dental benefits are made available after three months of work. Deferred profit share is also available after one full year of service and is paid out in the first quarter of that year. We of course pay and take all Statuary Holidays but also do the same for some Non Statuary Holidays as well. One of the perks of working for a small family operated business!

Locksmith – Job Description   NOC 7384
 
Job Duties
  • Install, repair, rebuild, adjust, and service mechanical or electrical locking devices.
  • Change and repair lock combinations through the use of tumblers.
  • Develop and design master key systems.
  • Cut duplicate or new keys from existing keys, patterns or codes.
  • Rebuild safes and other locking devices.
  • Complete service paper work, and maintain confidential client records.
  • Replace worn tumblers, springs, and other parts as necessary.
  • Fabricate lock parts.
  • Disassemble a variety of locking units.
  • Provide consultation and assist customers in problems with locking mechanisms.
  • Install and service handicap operators and automatic sliders (Access Control)
  • Install and service keypad entry locks
  • Installation of all types of door hardware
  • Company vehicle is supplied during work hours
 
Requirements
  • Completion or locksmith certification or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Minimum 5years' locksmith experience.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Ability to clear basic security and criminal record check.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Self motivated, strong analytical skills and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Eligible to obtain or already have a Canadian drivers license
  • Excellent English – verbal and written
 
Wage is based on experience but is competitive with the rest of Canada. Medical, dental benefits and deferred profit share are available after a required waiting period. Window and Overhead Door/Door Installer – Commercial/Residential NOC 7441
 
Job Duties
  • Needs to have experience installing and repairing all aspects of overhead doors in a commercial and residential setting.
  • Be able to have overall responsibility for planning and completing overhead door projects
  • Ensure safe worksite practices and procedures
  • Pertinent safety certificates -  first aid – WHIMIS (updated version) Fall Arrest – Zoom Boom/Scissor lift  - helpful but not necessary
  • Install, repair and maintain overhead doors systems having a height greater than 10 feet and opening to an interior with a ceiling height of greater than 12 feet
  • Provide assistance in the design and installation of overhead door systems
  • Experience with installation of residential and commercial window.
  • Experience with installation of residential and commercial store fronts.
  • A vehicle and tools are provided for work purposes only (your own hand tools will be necessary)
  • You will be working with the public and a professional manner will be needed
 
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 – 8 years experience of being a lead installer
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Able to lift over 100 pounds
  • Ability to clear basic security and criminal record checks
  • Eligible to obtain or already have a valid Canadian drivers license
  • Excellent English -  verbal and written skills

Glazier

Job Duties

  • Measure and mark glass and cut glass using glass cutters or computerized cutter
  • Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolds, rigging and hoisting equipment
  • Position glass panes into frames and secure glass using clips, points or moldings
  • Assemble and install prefabricated glass, mirrors or glass products on walls, ceilings or exteriors of building
  • Fabricate metal frames for glass installation
  • Install, fit, fabricate and attach architectural metals or related substitute products in commercial and residential buildings
  • Install pre-cut mirrors and opaque and transparent glass panels in frames to form exterior walls of buildings
  • Prepare and install special glass in establishments
  • Repair and service residential windows, commercial aluminum doors and other glass supporting structures, and replace damaged glass or faulty sealant
  • You will be working in residences and a professional manner will always be needed.
  • Full time (40) per week and overtime is occasionally required and there is also an on call rotation that is mandatory
  • A vehicle is provided for all worked hours
  • MUST have 3-5 years experience
  • Wage is based on experience
